Economic Growthe from Director

The goal of this program is to generate income and employment in poor regions of the country. To that end, USAID established Paraguay Vende, a business development strategy based on the application of a demand driven approach to three geographically defined corridors.

These corridors are regions with a considerable incidence of poverty, yet with the presence of a potentially dynamic urban center capable of demanding from surrounding rural areas.

Concrete business opportunities are then identified for companies and cooperatives established in, or sourcing from, these corridors. Technical assistance is offered to enable them to seize such opportunities.

The approach adopted is that of reducing costs which block market access wherever they may be in the productive chain: be that in production, processing, marketing, access to financial services or help with matters of national policy. There is no discrimination regarding size or nature of the productive unit to be assisted within the program as long as the goal of generating income, employment, sales, exports and investments in the corridors are achieved, having a positive impact on poverty.
