Fostering a Vibrant Civil Society
In this arena the primary goal is to facilitate citizen participation in the democratic process through the use of transparent advocacy and oversight mechanisms.
These mechanisms are aimed at reducing corruption through the promotion of higher accountability and integrity standards in public institutions.

The Mission supports public dialogue and the formulation of policies that enhance citizen rights and promote transparency of the public sector. This is accomplished by engaging all sectors (public, private and political) in debates about fundamental policy reform.
Over 60 local civil society organizations have been supported through sub-grants to carry out initiatives in the areas of citizen participation, advocacy for policy reform, and oversight of public institutions at both the local and national levels. Moreover, the Mission supports the consolidation of civil society organizations and the long term sustainability for the sector as a whole.
