Inclusion of People with Disabilities and Corporate Social Responsibility
USAID Partner, Fundación Saraki, launched a two-day International Seminar on “Inclusion and Corporate Social Responsibility”, under USAID’s Effective Labor Inclusion program, for People with Disabilities (PwD).
This highly successful program was widely covered in the press and has helped raise awareness and advocate for the rights of PwD. Currently, USAID and Saraki are working to reform Paraguayan legislation related to accessibility, and also improve accessibility services for PwD, in compliance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
This International Seminar that took place in Asunción on May 3rd raises awareness and increases support, especially within the private sector, on the importance of the social and labor inclusion of PwD.
Ambassador James Thessin joined Fundación Saraki and the Paraguay’s Chapter of the Global Compact, along with the recently created Association of People with Intellectual Disabilities, during the opening ceremony. Afterwards, the Ambassador and attendees visited an exhibit, where program beneficiaries had a chance to present their achievements towards a more inclusive society.
